Senior High Art studes hold Marian exhibit

October is the month of the Holy Rosary and Catholics all over the world celebrate this in various forms. At the University of San Carlos Senior High School–South Campus, Art and Design students have been holding an annual art exhibit in honor of the Blessed Mother.

Each year in October, talented students from Grades 11 and 12 join the world in observing the Month of the Holy Rosary by creating paintings that capture the many images of the Virgin Mary and sending messages of prayer and peace. This annual tradition is done in collaboration with their Religious Education classes.

This year, the exhibit will be open to the public from October 20–31, 2021 at the Upper Ground Floor City Wing Bridgeway, SM Seaside City Cebu. The exhibit will showcase Marian paintings in oil, acrylic, watercolor, and mixed media. Admission to the exhibit is free.

A simple program and blessing will launch the event tomorrow, October 20th, Wednesday, at 3 p.m. that will be attended by the University administrators, faculty, parents, and artist-students. Ribbon-cutting will be officiated by USC President Fr. Narciso A. Cellan, SVD, D.Comm., Vice President for Academic Affairs Fr. Jesuraj Anthoniappen, SVD, Ph.D., BED Director Fr. Alfonso Araceli, SVD, M.L.I.S., and the SHS South Principal Joanne Marisse Tan, D.A.

This will be the first time for this batch of students to exhibit their works in public. Despite the limitations of online learning, these student artists were able to produce outstanding art works. Students, teachers and parents alike are very excited over the public’s reception of the art works especially that a huge amount of preparation and effort was poured into making this event a success.

Interested media outlets who wish to cover the event may coordinate with Marie S. Tabotabo.
