Fr. Mamawal was from San Vicente, Tarlac and was born on September 16, 1932. He entered Christ the King Seminary immediately after WWII and was ordained a priest in 1958.

A year after, he was assigned as a professor at the University of San Carlos from 1959 to 1964. Subsequently, he was sent to the USA for studies in mathematics from 1964 to 1970.

After his stint abroad, he returned to USC and became the head of the Mathematics Department. At the same time, he also served as the Vice President for Academic Affairs.

Aside from his administrative duties, his guidance of the different Provincial Procurators and Treasurers on Financial Administration was also proven invaluable to those he helped during his stay.

The University requests the entire Carolinian community to pray for the repose of the soul of Fr. Mamawal.
