ECE students join APIE Camp in Indonesia for Network Engineering Training

Three M.S. Electronics and Communications Engineering (M.S. E.C.E.) students from the University of San Carlos participated in the Asia-Pacific Internet Engineering (APIE) Camp held in Indonesia.

From left: David Louie Bedia, French Aleca Recamara, and Aisha Marie Rollan

The intensive training program focused on network design, server deployment, and cloud computing brought together students from Bangladesh, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, the Philippines, and Vietnam and industry experts from across Asia, providing hands-on experience in networking technologies, cybersecurity, and IoT applications.

David Louie Bedia joined last November 18–22, 2024 at Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK), Banda Aceh while French Aleca Recamara and Aisha Marie Rollan joined on February 10–14, 2025, at the Universitas Brawijaya, Malang.

Bedia worked with a group attempting to deploy a network at the Universitas Syiah Kuala.

Both five-day programs featured hands-on training with industry leaders from APNIC (the Asia Pacific Network Information Centre), Amazon Web Services (AWS), USK, and Keio University.

Beyond technical training, the camp emphasized collaboration and professional networking, equipping students with critical problem-solving skills for careers in network operations, research, and technological innovation.

The training offered networking opportunities among participants coming from multiple cultural backgrounds.

Through its partnership with School-on-the-Internet (SOI) Asia and the APIE Program, USC continues to foster global educational collaboration and cutting-edge learning opportunities in IT and engineering.

By participating in APIE Camp, USC students gain valuable hands-on experience, preparing them to become future leaders in network engineering and digital infrastructure.
