Architecture hosts talk on alternative sanitary systems

The Architecture Graduate Program of the Department of Architecture, School of Architecture, Fine Arts and Design (SAFAD), in partnership with the School of Engineering (SOE) and Water Resources Center Foundation (WRC), hosted an afternoon seminar on Alternative Sanitary Systems on October 25, 2018 at the SAFAD Theater.

Ar. Danilo Ravina, a plumbing professional, discussed various ways of treating sewage beyond the typical septic tank. He also explained many of the seemingly arbitrary practices in plumbing design.

Sarah Hartman, a Fulbright scholar currently hosted by the School of Engineering, shared her research experience on the eco-vapor toilet and the socio-cultural dimension of their research where open defecation is still a problem.

Aside from students and faculty, SOE Assistant Dean Engr. Ricardo Fornis (see photo above), SAFAD Dean Ar. Joseph Michael Espina, Department of Architecture Chair Ar. Margret Rosario, and WRC Director Engr. Maria Nenita Jumao-as also graced the event.
