Second year Electronics Engineering students win two championships and a runner-up position in three events held late last year. Kim Christian Jayme, Jev Harvey Monteron, and Mike Wenmar Payo were declared champions in the Sumobot competition college category of the Cebu STEaM Cup 2019. The event was held in Robinsons Galleria, Cebu City last November 8-10, 2019. The three-day event was hosted by Compass Education, a non-profit organization.

Leveling up the ante, Monteron, Jayme, and Payo teamed up with Sophia Dianne Bernardo and John Ejie Relente, also second-year B.S. E.C.E. students, to edge out more than 30 other teams and emerge as champions of the Robotics Competition during the 40th Annual Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines National Students Summit. The competition was held in the ABS-CBN Tent, Vertis North, Quezon City last November 27, 2019.

Proving that their expertise was not just in robotics, Bernardo, Monteron, and Payo also placed second among more than 60 entries during the 6th Lear Innovation Olympics held last November 15, 2019 at the Lear Philippine Engineering and Technology Center, Mactan, Cebu. Their project, Sakay: A crowd-sourcing mobile platform for hitchhikers, won for them Certificates of Recognition and a cash prize of USD1,500.

The teams for all three competitions were coached by Engr. Joseph Karl Salva.
