USC receives Mayor’s Special Award

The University of San Carlos received Cebu City Mayor’s Special Award on February 24, 2020 at the Cebu Waterfront Hotel and Casino during the 83rd Cebu City Charter Day Anniversary.

Cebu City Mayor Hon. Edgardo C. Labella presented the award to USC President Fr. Dionisio M. Miranda, SVD. The University was recognized in the citation for consistent performance in the national licensure and bar examinations and for “producing exemplary graduates that contribute to the betterment of the Cebuano community.”

Also honored during the celebration was National Artist Dr. Resil B. Mojares who was conferred the Order of Rajah Humabon, which is the highest honor that Cebu City can give. See Cebu Daily News story here. Mojares was named National Artist in the Field of Literature in 2018. He is a Professor Emeritus in the University and spoke last year about the value of liberal arts education (see related story here).
