Jollibee Group Foundation recognizes USC

Jollibee Group Foundation (JGF), represented by Leonardo Cortez and Sharleene Kay Alayann, visited USC last August 15, 2018 to formally give recognition to the University for its participation in the JGF’s Farmers Entrepreneur Program Youth Challenge. (See related story here.)

Cortez is the Program Manager while Alayann is a Program Officer of the Farmers Entrepreneur Program Youth Challenge.

The University, through the School of Engineering, joined the challenge, proposed and delivered three projects which helped the farmers from Lamac Cooperative in Sudlon II (Team Catalyst), Magbabaul Cooperative from Manlapay, Dalaguete (Team Bukad, see top photo), and farmers in Mantalongon, Dalaguete (Team Ceres).

Present during the recognition were the three teams with their respective coaches and focal person Engr. Christine Marie Gohetia together with Engineering Assistant Dean, Engr. Ricardo Fornis, Asst. Vice President for Academic Affairs, Fr. Narciso Cellan, SVD, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Fr. Aleksander Gaut, SVD, and the University President, Fr. Dionisio Miranda, SVD.

Two of the three USC projects made it to the finals. The announcement and awarding of the winner is scheduled on October 25, 2018.

Team Catalyst (above) is composed of Jodimarie Lloyd Tio, Adrian Tan, Mar Kristian Gerolaga, Francis Wilson Po, and Alexandrea Yap, with their coach Engr. Jaybee Lacea. Team Ceres (below) is composed of Caryl Literal, Sheila Tabaranza, Michelle Camara, Robin Symone Romarate, and Neil Lawrence Monzon, with their coach Engr. Warren Nuñez. Team Bukad, meanwhile, is composed of James Brian Alfante, Veronica Charneil Bentulan, Jason Moen Pestaño, Paul Francis Sanico, and Rachel Ann Castañeda, with their coach Dr. Angelo Cabije.
