A series of technopreneurship workshops was held on January 22–25 and February 27–March 2, 2018 at the Lawrence Bunzel Building by the School of Engineering Tech Hub dubbed as Carolinian BRIDGES.

Funded by the Commission on Higher Education’s Institutional Development and Innovation Grant (CHED-IDIG), the workshops aimed to prepare and train engineering faculty members to teach the technopreneurship course in the new engineering curriculum mandated by the CHED. The workshops also served as a venue for participants to generate business ideas which may become technology incubators in the Tech Hub.

Participants from eight universities participated in the first round last January, including Holy Name University, Bohol Island State University, STI, University of San Jose-Recoletos, University of Cebu (Main, Banilad, Lapu-Lapu-Mandaue campuses), and University of the Visayas.

A new set of participants from University of Cebu’s Main and Lapu-Lapu-Mandaue campuses, along with Foundation University (Dumaguete), Cebu Technological University, and Cebu Institute of Technology University joined the second workshop. There were also representatives from the USC School of Business and Economics and four engineers from Minebea Mitsumi, an industry partner of the School of Engineering.
