USC-NEDA lecture series

The University of San Carlos has partnered with the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Region 7 in organizing a lecture series on the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2017-2022.

The lecture series aims to increase awareness of stakeholders, particularly local government units, civil society organizations, academia, and the general public on the new development plan. The series also serves to connect different actors and institutions, laying the groundwork for meaningful collaborations for the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the PDP.

Launching and commitment signing for the lecture series was held on October 3, 2017 at the Michael Richartz Conference Center in Talamban Campus during a day-long program. The morning session featured the presentation of the PDP 2017-2022 by Dr. Rosemarie G. Edillon, NEDA Undersecretary for Planning and Policy, followed by the presentation of the Central Visayas Regional Development Plan 2017-2022 by NEDA Regional Director Efren B. Carreon. Reactors from various sectors followed prior to the commitment signing.

Three lectures around the theme “Malasakit: Enhancing the Social Fabric” were delivered during the afternoon session. The first lecture was given by Dir. Thelma C. Manuel (NEDA Governance) on “Ensuring People-Centered, Clean, and Efficient Governance” while Atty. Renelie B. Mayuga (Administrator, Judicial Reform Program, Supreme Court Program Management Office) talked about “Pursuing Swift and Fair Administration of Justice.” Sophia Maria M. Cuevas (NEDA Development Information) finally spoke on “Promoting Philippine Culture and Values.”

The lecture series will run until March 2018 with the next series scheduled in November 2017.
